About the Artist

I have been a ceramics artist for over 20 years. Originally, I worked as a hand builder, using slabs, coils and molds to create decorative yet functional items. Moving into mosaic work about 8 years ago was a natural progression as I combined several techniques in tile making to create my unique wall pieces. Several years ago, I had the opportunity to take a figure sculpture class and I was hooked. Both challenging and exhilarating, I now focus entirely on figurative sculpture.

I have always found inspiration in nature, whether it be the seashore with its constantly changing tide and wondrous shells, the emerging flower bud as it opens in my garden (my other passion), or wherever I am hiking in my travels as I listen to the wind, watch the movement of the leaves in the trees above me and feel the wonder of Mother Nature. While I sculpt from a model in the studio when that is available, my ideas are more influenced by my outdoor adventures. Creating is a part of my soul and a day is not complete until I have pursued something creative. My present vision in my art is to capture the beauty and wonder of what I see and share it with others.
